Kairo's Krew
In June of 2017, my husband and I were spending a normal afternoon at home. Our curious, fearless, full
of life, little spitfire snuck off to the one place that he wasn’t supposed to be at alone. This
day, this moment will forever be burned into our memories. We will forever feel the guilt of
being distracted for that split second.
After Kairo’s accident, we enrolled our 4-year old into swim lessons and quickly realized
how expensive learning to swim can be. Four 30 minute lessons in a group of about 8-10
kids for $50. After the lessons were done, we were less than satisfied with 1 session. If you
want to do lessons that teach your infant how to flip face up when in the water, that will
cost you $70, four lessons, 30 minutes each. My husband and I both work full time and we
live a comfortable life. With that said, I was not thrilled about dishing out at least another
$50 for another set of four 30 minute lessons. So, needless to say, in our area, there is a
need. With all of the access to the beautiful lakes, I want families to feel good and safe
about spending a day with family at the beach or poolside. This is how Kairo’s Krew was
born.
Our mission is to bring awareness to water safety through swim lessons, equipment, and
good old fashioned education.
As Kairo’s Krew grows, I want our mission to grow. We don’t want to stop at swimming
lessons. We want to include Coast guard approved life jackets for families in need, lifeguard
training, and CPR training. I want to grow Kairo’s Krew to provide education and
equipment for the needs of West Michigan’s families.
Thank you so much for listening to my story and considering Kairo’s Krew for your cause!!
It means the world to us!!
